Mariana Dionísio is one of the most active figures of the new generation of the Portuguese jazz scene. Her voice has explored different universes, from contemporary to experimental music, passing through jazz and free improvisation. She has developed multiple collaborations and partnerships, with musicians such as João Almeida, Clara Saleiro, João Pereira and Leonor Arnaut. In this voice ensemble, she brought together a super group of unique voices to create soundscapes from other latitudes and planispheres. The group is comprised of Beatriz Nunes, Filipa Franco, Leonor Arnaut, Nazaré da Silva, João Neves, Hugo Henriques and Diogo Ferreira. Among other things, they work on “premise-pieces”, as she explained in an interview with Jazz.pt, “the way to make an improvisation sound like a piece. Each piece corresponds to a set of ideas that make it have its own characteristics and a set of gestures and signs that guide the narrative of the event.”
